The specification for Leaving Certificate Irish L1 is aimed at native speakers and learners in Gaeltacht schools, and students in the sector that operate through the Irish language (Gaelcholáistí and Aonaid lán-Ghaeilge). In schools that operate as English-medium schools, there will also be the option to provide the L1 specification.
Feedback and information will be gathered through an online survey, focus groups, bi-lateral meetings with stakeholders and written submissions.
The consultation will remain open until 30 November 2021.

Consultative focus groups are organised to capture feedback from teachers and stakeholders on the draft specification for Leaving Certificate Irish L1.
Consultative focus groups have been organised and focus groups are continuing over the summer period with stakeholders not directly involved with school settings.
From September onwards NCCA will facilitate additional consultative focus groups with key stakeholders in our school communities; teachers, principals and post-primary students in both Irish-medium settings and in English-medium settings.
During the consultation, a series of bi-lateral meetings are taking place between the NCCA and education stakeholders to discuss and provide feedback on the draft specifications for Leaving Certificate Irish L1 and L2.
Bi-lateral discussions will continue over the summer period with stakeholders not directly involved in school settings.
From September onwards NCCA will facilitate additional bi-lateral discussions with key stakeholders in our school communities.
NCCA welcomes written submissions as part of the consultation on the draft specification for Leaving Certificate Irish L1.
